Should You Pucker Up for the Lemonade Diet?
You can only imagine the number of people who started to research about the lemonade diet when Beyonce admitted to using it for quick weight loss. You will definitely lose weight if you take in nothing but lemonade for the next ten days, which is what the program recommends.
The lemonade diet is also called the “master cleanse.” It promises to clean out your digestive system, especially the colon. It makes you lose weight fast because all you drink is a special lemonade recipe for the entire period of the diet. Water and certain liquids are allowed, although all kinds of food are not allowed in the diet. You will be drinking at least 60 ounces of lemonade a day, although there really is no clear limit on how much you can drink on a daily basis.

The two other liquids you are allowed to drink while on the lemonade diet are salt water in the morning and a laxative tea in the evening. The salt water flushes away toxins from the system to maintain electrolyte balance, while the laxative tea is recommended just to make sure that your digestive system is cleansed thoroughly.
The ingredients for the master cleanse are two tablespoons of freshly squeezed organic lemon juice, two tablespoons of grade B maple syrup, and 1/10 teaspoon of powdered cayenne pepper. Mix all these in 10 ounces of water.
For maximum weight loss, you will need to drink at six to ten servings of lemonade per day. The diet plan doesn’t really say when you should drink the lemonade, so you can just drink it whenever you are hungry. The salt flush, though, should be taken first thing in the morning and the laxative tea should be taken before you go to bed.
If you want to lose weight fast, this is a good diet to try. However, this may cause serious health problems. If you feel faint or you feel like throwing up at any point of the diet, stop and see a doctor.
If you really want to try it, here are a few tips:
- Never use preserved, canned or frozen lemons. They do not have the highest nutritional value and defeat the purpose of the master cleanse.
- You should stick to organic lemons. Non-organic lemons may have harmful pesticides.
- Use only as much cayenne pepper as you can tolerate. If you really are sensitive to spices, just minimize the amount of pepper you add instead of leaving it out entirely. The pepper is an essential part of the lemonade diet and the program is not as effective without it.
The lemonade diet is one of those new diets meant to help you lose weight. It may be difficult at first, but stick to your diet with a goal in mind, whether it is to fit into your dream dress or just to feel lighter, and you will succeed.
