Its main component orlistat, an off white crystalline powder acts a lipase inhibitor for obesity management and works by inhibiting the absorption f dietary fats into the bloodstream.

Xenical is available for oral administration which is dark blue in color encased in a hard gelatin capsules with light blue imprint. One capsule is equivalent to 120 milligrams o the active ingredient orlistat. Other inactive ingredients include sodium starch glycolate, microcrystalline cellulose, talc, povidone and sodium lauryl sulfate.
